E-Bike Battery Range Calculator

Range is watt-hours divided by how hard the motor works. Eco on the flat stretches a pack; turbo on a climb empties it. Ten percent of the battery is held back so the estimate is not a dead-flat fantasy.

How the number is made

Watt-hours per km start at 6 (eco), 10 (trail) or 16 (turbo), then multiply by (1 + gradient% ÷ 10). Range km = battery Wh × 0.9 ÷ that consumption.

Motor watt rating is not an input. Eco, trail and turbo are fixed bands (6, 10 and 16 Wh/km) scaled by gradient, not by a named motor. Your own pedalling, wind, tyres and cold are outside the model. A 0% gradient is a flat road, not a descent credit. Ten percent of the pack is held back.

Questions

Why 90% of the watt-hours?

Packs are not ridden from 100% to 0%. A cutoff and a cold day both eat the last bit.

Does pedalling harder help?

Yes, and this model does not credit it. Dropping from turbo to eco is the lever the calculator does show.

Why is motor wattage not an input?

Range uses battery watt-hours, an assist rate and gradient. Motor watts are not in the formula. A climb increases consumption. A descent does not credit energy back.
