Performance and e-bikes
W/kg, VAM, drag, range, fueling and torque.
- E-Bike Battery Range CalculatorRange is watt-hours divided by how hard the motor works. Eco on the flat stretches a pack; turbo on a climb empties it. Ten percent of the battery is held back so the estimate is not a dead-flat fantasy.
- Power-to-Weight CalculatorW/kg is the climbing currency. Enter the watts you can hold and your body weight. The bike weight does not go in the denominator — that is the convention for rider W/kg.
- Climbing VAM CalculatorVAM is how fast you go up, not how fast the GPS says you went along the road. A thousand vertical metres in an hour is 1000 VAM.
- Speed to Watts CalculatorOn the flat, most of your watts fight air. CdA is the drag area: about 0.30–0.35 for many riders on the hoods, lower in the drops, higher sitting upright.
- Calories and Carbs CalculatorA cycling rule of thumb treats mechanical kilojoules as food kilocalories. Carbs per hour scale with watts and stay between 30 g and 120 g so the suggestion is something you can actually swallow.
- Cost per Gram CalculatorA lighter part is a purchase, not a personality. Divide the extra money by the grams you actually drop. Wheels and tyres change the ride; a titanium bolt mostly changes the receipt.
- Bicycle Torque GuideCarbon and small bolts fail when they are guessed. Pick the component and use the printed newton-metre as a workshop default, then prefer the number etched on the part if it disagrees.
